Frequently Asked Questions
Is the extension free?
Yes! The extension is completely free to use. You can browse discussions without an account. Creating a free ThreadChain account lets you post comments and start new discussions.
Does the extension track my browsing?
No. The extension only activates when you click the widget or use the selection mode. We don't track your browsing history or collect any data about pages you visit unless you explicitly interact with the extension.
How do I hide the widget?
Click the extension icon in your browser toolbar and toggle the widget off in the settings. You can also temporarily hide it by holding Alt+H.
Can I change the widget position?
Yes! You can drag the widget to any position on the screen - just click and hold, then move it wherever you want. You can also click the extension icon and go to Settings to snap it to a corner (bottom-right, bottom-left, top-right, or top-left).
Why don't I see the widget on some sites?
The extension is disabled on ThreadChain.io itself (to avoid confusion) and may not work on certain restricted pages like browser settings, Chrome Web Store, or sites with strict content security policies.
Is there a Firefox version?
Not yet, but it's on our roadmap! For now, the extension is available for Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers like Edge, Brave, and Opera.
Why do I need to install manually?
ThreadChain is currently in beta and not yet published to the Chrome Web Store. Manual installation lets you try the extension while we finalize the public release. It only takes a minute and works exactly the same as store-installed extensions.
