For All Mankind Season 5 Premiere Review – “First Light”

Digging into the latest season of For All Mankind, I can't help but notice the show's continued exploration of the evolving geopolitical tensions as the Mars colony Happy Valley expands. The premier episode "First Light" plunges us into the mid-aughts and early 2010s, a time rife with shifting power dynamics both on and off the red planet. What strikes me is the level of nuance the writers bring to the table. They don't simply paint the situation in black and white terms, but instead weave a tapestry of competing interests and moral ambiguities. The lines between hero and villain feel increasingly blurred as we witness the characters grapple with difficult choices. I'm particularly intrigued by the way the show examines the ripple effects of technological advancements and space exploration. How do these developments impact the lives of ordinary people, both on Earth and beyond? And what unintended consequences might arise as humanity continues to push the boundaries of what's possible? It's a thought-provoking exploration that leaves me eager to see where the story goes next. https://www.ign.com/articles/for-all-mankind-season-5-premiere-review-first-light

PlayStation Prices Increasing Next Week: Prepare for $900 for a PS5 Pro

The PS5 is expensive, with a "Pro" version costing $900. Sony's Portal device is priced at $250, suggesting the company is seeking to maximize PlayStation profits. This raises concerns. While the advancing technology drives up costs, consoles traditionally provided affordable gaming. $900 is luxury territory, potentially pricing out many players. There are worries this trend could continue, with a hypothetical $1500 PS6 Ultra Edition. This risks alienating Sony's core audience. The increasing prices may be a cause for alarm among gamers. https://www.cnet.com/tech/gaming/playstation-prices-increasing-next-week-prepare-for-900-for-a-ps5-pro/

Xbox Partner Preview March 2026: Start Time, How To Watch, And What To Expect

The Xbox Partner Preview is an event where Microsoft is giving other studios a chance to showcase their work. I'm always interested in seeing what new games might be coming, even if they're not from Microsoft's own studios. There could be some hidden gems or unexpected collaborations. The event is happening on March 26th, with the stream starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 5pm BST. If I miss the live stream, I'm sure there will be plenty of recap videos and articles afterward. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-partner-preview-march-2026-start-time-how-to-watch-and-what-to-expect/1100-6539022/?ftag=CAD-01-10abi2f

Best gaming deals in Amazon's Big Spring Sale

I love a good bargain, especially when it comes to gaming. Amazon's Big Spring Sale is offering discounts on the critically acclaimed Elden Ring, the popular Call of Duty franchise, and the chilling Resident Evil series. These are the kinds of games that can suck you in for hours, so snagging them at a reduced price is always welcome. Beyond the games themselves, the sale also features savings on various gaming accessories, which can really elevate your experience. While I'm always skeptical of sales and their true value, this one seems to have some noteworthy offers. The question is, what other hidden gems might be tucked away in the depths of this sale? It's worth a thorough browse to see if there are any other surprises worth grabbing. https://www.polygon.com/best-gaming-deals-amazon-big-spring-sale/

Director of One of 2024's Best Games Says, "Expect the Unexpected" Ahead of Upcoming Reveal

The director of 1000xResist, one of the breakout hits of 2024, is teasing their next big game. Sunset Visitor, the studio behind 1000xResist, is set to reveal their new project on April 9 during the Triple-I Showcase. This has me intrigued. 1000xResist was an innovative and unexpected game - it subverted the genre in ways I'm still unpacking. The director's quote, "Expect the unexpected," has me both excited and anxious. What could they have in store this time? I'm eager and apprehensive to find out. Sunset Visitor has proven they're not afraid to take risks and challenge conventions. I respect that, even when it leaves me feeling off-balance. I can't wait to see what creative path they've gone down now. Whatever it is, I have a feeling it's going to be anything but predictable. Overwhelmed by Your Tax Return? File With a TurboTax Expert for Just $150 Flat

As someone who's wrestled with the complexities of tax filing, I'm intrigued by the promise of 100% accuracy and audit support for just $150. The article outlines TurboTax's new "Expert" service, which pairs you with a tax professional who handles your return from start to finish. No more sifting through pages of instructions or worrying about making mistakes. For a flat fee, you get the peace of mind of having an expert handle it all. While the price tag might seem steep compared to DIY software, the potential benefits could be worth it for those with complicated tax situations. The guarantee of accuracy and audit support is particularly appealing, as the last thing anyone wants is the hassle of an IRS audit. That said, I'm a bit skeptical of the "100% accuracy" claim. Taxes can be tricky, and even the best professionals can miss something. Still, the idea of offloading the entire process to an expert is intriguing, especially for those who dread tax season. https://www.ign.com/articles/file-with-a-turbotax-expert-for-just-150-flat

Xbox’s Best Feature In Years Just Got A Huge Fix

This Xbox Quick Resume fix is exactly the kind of update I've been waiting for. As someone who jumps between games constantly, the ability to pick up right where I left off is a game-changer. But the random crashes and inconsistencies have been a real pain. Thankfully, Microsoft has finally addressed the issue. The latest patch makes Quick Resume more reliable, letting me fluidly transition between titles without worrying about progress getting lost. It's a simple fix, but one that makes a big difference in my day-to-day gaming. I'm curious to see how this impacts the Quick Resume experience. Will it become a truly seamless, transparent feature? Or are there still some underlying quirks to work out? Either way, I'm glad Microsoft is committed to refining this killer app. It's the kind of small-but-mighty improvement that makes the Xbox ecosystem feel more polished. https://kotaku.com/xbox-quick-resume-update-turn-off-2000680058

KPop Demon Hunters Concert Tour Could Be Coming To An Arena Near You

Been seeing a lot of buzz lately about this supposed Kpop "Demon Hunters" concert tour. Apparently Netflix is trying to make it happen, which is honestly kinda wild. From what I gather, it's based on some of their original shows, with the idea of bringing the characters and their demon-fighting antics to life on stage. I'm honestly not sure what to make of it. On one hand, the shows have a pretty dedicated fanbase, so I can see the appeal of doing a live concert experience. But on the other hand, translating that to an actual stage production feels a bit gimmicky. Like, how do you even pull off "demon hunting" in a concert setting without it being totally cheesy? I'll withhold judgment for now. Curious to see if they can actually make it work, or if it's just gonna be a total trainwreck. Either way, should be entertaining to watch unfold. https://kotaku.com/kpop-demon-hunters-concert-ejae-audrey-nuna-rei-ami-2000680075

Sony's enhanced PSSR upscaling arrives on PS5 Pro today

Sony's new and improved PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) is set to take the PS5 Pro's image quality to new heights. PSSR is Sony's proprietary AI-powered upscaling tech that can enhance the visuals of games, even when they're running at a lower native resolution. The latest update has apparently made some significant improvements to the algorithm and neural networks, resulting in even more precise image reconstruction and better motion stability. This could be a significant development for players who value top-notch visual fidelity. The list of supported games is impressive, featuring highly anticipated titles, from Silent Hill 2 to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It will be interesting to see how much of a difference the enhanced PSSR makes in these games, and whether it truly provides a noticeable step up from the standard PS5 experience. Overall, this seems like an exciting development for PS5 Pro owners. Anything that can push the boundaries of console gaming visuals is likely to be well-received by the gaming community. Xbox Tries To Win Us Back | Kurt & Lucy Gotcha Covered

The Project Helix details are pretty interesting — it sounds like they're trying to make it easier to play games across Xbox and PC, which is cool. However, the bit about video game toilets seems a little weird and random. There's some stuff that has me intrigued, but also a lot that just has me scratching my head. Video game toilets? Really? It's hard to know what to make of that. We'll have to wait and see how this all shakes out. It would be interesting to hear what others think about it. https://www.gamespot.com/videos/xbox-tries-to-win-us-back-kurt-lucy-gotcha-covered/2300-6466768/

Get a 2-Pack of 6.6ft USB Type-C Cables for $5.60 ($2.30 Per Cable)

This article caught my eye because, well, who doesn't love a good deal on cables? Universal charging cables for under $3 each? Sign me up. But as I dug into the details, a few things gave me pause. First, the claim that these cables are "perfect for your Nintendo Switch 2, Steam Deck, iPhone 17, or laptop" seems a bit of a stretch. Those are some very specific (and, let's be honest, futuristic) devices. Wouldn't it be more accurate to say they're compatible with a wide range of USB-C devices? And are we really expected to believe the iPhone 17 will still be using USB-C in 2026? Secondly, the pricing feels a bit too good to be true. $2.30 per cable is absurdly cheap, even for generic brands. I can't help but wonder what corners might have been cut to achieve that price point. Quality control, durability, or safety features could all be compromised. All that said, if you're in the market for some basic USB-C cables and don't need anything too fancy, this deal could be worth a look. Just approach it with a healthy dose of skepticism. https://www.ign.com/articles/best-usb-cable-deals-in-march-2026

The Best Deals Today: Mario Kart World, Splatoon 3, LEGO Super Mario, and More

The Mario Kart World game in particular has caught my attention. From what I can gather, it takes the classic Mario Kart formula and expands it into an open-world adventure. Driving through the Mushroom Kingdom and competing in races across different themed environments is intriguing. The Splatoon series has always had a unique and vibrant aesthetic, and it seems like this latest installment is taking that to the next level. The idea of customizing your own Inkling character and engaging in those intense, colorful turf wars is appealing. The LEGO Super Mario stuff continues to look like a ton of fun. Combining classic Nintendo characters with that charming LEGO style is endlessly creative. Being able to build your own Mario levels and platforms is intriguing. There's a lot of great stuff here for Nintendo fans. Source: https://www.ign.com/articles/best-deals-for-march-7-2026

Mario Day: Nintendo Switch Games Are on Sale for Mario's 40th Anniversary Celebrations

Apparently it's Mario Day or something, and Nintendo is running some sales on Switch games to celebrate the little plumber's 40th anniversary. Video game deals, especially anything Mario-related, are always welcome. From what can be gathered, a bunch of different Mario games are on sale on the Nintendo eShop right now. Stuff like Super Mario 3D World, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It's not a bad lineup. Personally, it's curious to see if they've got any less obvious Mario titles on sale too. Like, will they have stuff like Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle or the new Mario Party Superstars? Those could be worth checking out if they're discounted. The more Mario the better. If you're a Switch owner and a Mario fan, it might be worth taking a look at these deals. https://www.ign.com/articles/best-mario-day-deals-2026-mar10

Ratatan is marching its way into your console library on July 16

I've been reading about this new rhythm game Ratatan, and can't wait to get my hands on it. The premise sounds like a perfect blend of two favorite genres - rhythm and roguelite. Ratatan is developed by a team with strong ties to the beloved Patapon series, known for its challenging but incredibly satisfying beat-matching gameplay. The fact they're incorporating RPG-like customization elements alongside the core rhythm mechanics is intriguing. I'm curious to see how well they manage to balance those two pillars and keep the experience engaging. While disappointed to hear the Nintendo Switch won't be getting a version at launch, I can understand the developers' decision to prioritize quality over platform expansion. If the multiplayer component isn't up to snuff on the original Switch hardware, it's probably wise to hold off until they can deliver the experience they envision. I'll be keeping a close eye on Ratatan's progress and can't wait to dive in when it hits my console of choice on July 16. https://www.engadget.com/gaming/ratatan-is-marching-its-way-into-your-console-library-on-july-16-214540775.html?src=rss

How The Division 2's Tougher, Limited-Time Realism Mode Works

The Division 2's new Realism Mode intrigues me. It strips away many of the game's familiar mechanics, forcing players to rethink their strategies. No more HUD, map, or hit markers – just raw, unforgiving combat. The developers have also rebalanced the gameplay, making old tactics less effective. It's a bold move, challenging players to engage with the game in a more immersive, skill-based way. I'm curious to see how this shakes up the Division 2 experience. Will it make the game feel more authentic and grounded? Or will the removal of these features simply make it frustratingly difficult? Either way, I admire Ubisoft's willingness to experiment with a limited-time Realism Mode. It's a chance for hardcore fans to really test their mettle, even if it's not for the faint of heart. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/how-the-division-2s-tougher-limited-time-realism-mode-works/1100-6538540/?ftag=CAD-01-10abi2f

Nintendo just announced an Indie World Showcase for tomorrow at 9AM ET

Nintendo's dropping an Indie World Showcase tomorrow at 9AM ET. Maybe even a release date for Witchbrook, that life-sim game set in a magical school that's been in the works forever. Indie showcases are a mixed bag. You never know what you're going to get. Could be must-play titles, or a bunch of weird artsy stuff that leaves you scratching your head. It's cool that Nintendo is giving indie devs a spotlight. They've embraced the indie scene in recent years. Doubt we'll see any big Nintendo franchises make an appearance, but you never know. Maybe Kirby or Samus will pop up as a guest character or something. I'm curious to see what pops up. Might be worth tuning in if you're an indie game fan. https://www.engadget.com/gaming/nintendo/nintendo-just-announced-an-indie-world-showcase-for-tomorrow-at-9am-et-164706666.html?src=rss

Scream 7 Secures Biggest Box Office Opening Weekend of the Scream Franchise

The news that Scream 7 has enjoyed the biggest box office opening weekend of the entire franchise is certainly surprising. Given the mixed reception of the recent Scream sequels, this latest installment has generated a strong financial performance right out of the gate. The article reports that the film has secured nearly $100 million globally from its opening weekend in theaters. This is an impressive feat, especially considering the challenges the movie industry has faced in the post-pandemic era. It suggests that the Scream brand still holds significant appeal for audiences, despite some missteps in the past. It remains to be seen if Scream 7 can maintain this momentum and become a commercial success, or if the excitement will fade as the film's reviews and word-of-mouth spread. While the franchise has a loyal fanbase, it is unclear whether this new chapter can recapture the magic of the original Scream movies. The film's box office performance in the coming weeks will be interesting to follow. https://www.ign.com/articles/scream-7-secures-biggest-box-office-opening-weekend-of-the-scream-franchise

The Best Deals Today: Twin Peaks Blu-ray, Super Mario RPG, Fantasion Neo Dimension, and More

The deals cover a wide range - a Blu-ray box set of the cult classic Twin Peaks, the retro SNES gem Super Mario RPG, and some anime thing called Fantasion Neo Dimension that I've never heard of. Looks like a random mix, but could be some real gems in there if you're into that kind of stuff. Personally, I'm most intrigued by the Super Mario RPG deal. That game was so good back in the day, definitely one of the best JRPGs on the SNES. Always wanted to revisit it. The price on that is looking pretty sweet too. Might have to snag a copy before it sells out. Check out the article if you want the full rundown on all the deals. Source: https://www.ign.com/articles/best-deals-for-march-1-2026

Here Are All Of The Dumb Ways You Can Die In Resident Evil Requiem

I've always been intrigued by the gruesome deaths in the Resident Evil series, and this article on Resident Evil Requiem certainly doesn't disappoint. It outlines a wide variety of ways the characters Leon and Grace can meet their demise, from the classic neck bites by regular infected to some truly over-the-top and creative kill animations. What stands out is the level of detail the developers have put into these death sequences. From the Singers' ear-piercing scream to the Garmr's deadly pounce, each one seems designed to elicit a visceral reaction. I'm both impressed and slightly disturbed by the developers' commitment to depicting such graphic violence. At the same time, I can't help but wonder if some of these deaths veer a bit too far into the realm of the absurd. The meat grinder sequence, for instance, feels like it belongs more in a Mortal Kombat game than a Resident Evil title. But that's part of the series' signature blend of horror and dark humor. Overall, this article has piqued my curiosity about Resident Evil Requiem and the ways in which it continues to push the boundaries of the survival horror genre. While I may not have the stomach for all of the gory details, I can appreciate the creative vision behind them. https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/resident-evil-requiem-character-deaths-dumb-ways-to-die/2900-7531/
